Using boost is a necessity to winning or even competing in any race and often times you barely have enough air to get by even for one lap. Air drains as you boost or simply just crash. Air is another mechanic one must take into account. Each possess a certain power, for example, speed characters can grind rails, which often serve two-fold as both a shortcut and a means of refilling your air supply. But what does this all mean? Simply put, there are three classes of characters: flying, speed, and power. Sonic Riders doesn't just focus on racing, it also incorporates tricks, material management, and character specialties. However, for those of you who actually will sit down and play this game more than a few times will begin to see how in depth it really is. On the surface, Sonic Riders seems like nothing more than your typical futuristic racing style game, and to be quite honest, it doesn't even seem to do that well.
